Vision:  Committed to the cause of Women Empowerment through Sports & Games

Mission: To Reorient Physical Education through Enrichment of Sports Activities to Promote Physical Fitness, Courage, Self Confidence and Self Reliance among Women. 

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT 

The Directorate of sports has the responsibility of coaching, selecting and organising various tournaments like intercollegiate and all India interuniversity tournaments sponsored by competent authority. Directorate of sports aims to develop Physical fitness, scientific temper, patriotism, democratic attitude, and leadership qualities by motivating, inspiring and providing platform to the students to participate in various activities, Dept also organises national and international conferences, workshops and seminars from time to time.

Facilities: Students have been provided with state of art Training facilities such as multi-gym  in the Dept of Physical Education and sports sciences 6.30a.m. to 8.30a.m for men, evening session 4.00p.m to 7.00p.m for women. The department is equipped with advanced scientific teaching aids and apparatus for better teaching and coaching.

Outdoor facilities: Sports Department also provides outdoor playing facilities for Basket ball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volley ball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, 400 mts. Standard Track and other training gadgets.

Event Organization: Akkamahadevi Women’s University sports section organizes competitions and selection for the students of 137 affiliated colleges and two PG centre of thirteen districts according to the calendar.

Incentives and cash awards for sportswomen; Akkamahadevi Women’s provides track suit and playing kit for sports women representing the university in all India and Inter University competitions. The details of the Cash awards given to medallists at all India competitions are as follows:

New record holder of for inter collegiate athletic meet will be receive cash prize (individual event) 

All India Inter-university players will receive cash prize.

-Individual event: honoured with cash prize and Blazer.
-For team position: cash prize and Blazer for all players.
-International achiever will be felicitated with cash money and blazer.

Faculty Specializations

• Cycling, Kho-kho, Kabaddi, Basket Ball, Athletic, Cricket, Hockey, Badminton, Volley ball, wrestling, Table Tennis   

Outstanding Performers in national and International Events of our university students are:

1. Kumari Triveni Kalkutagi secured bronze medal in all India inter university judo            
    Computation held at KIIT University Bhuvaneshwar odisha.
2. Kum. Savita Annepannavar secured third position in All India Inter University     
    Computation held at Osmania University.
3. Smt Savita  Annepannavar conferred with Akalya Award and Kittur Chanamm awards.
4. Kum Rajeshwari Gayakwad student of our University represented India in Women cricket.
5. In the Year 2011-12 our University Runners up in the south Zone Cricket Tournament held
    at Pondicherry.  
6. In the Year 2013-14 our University Runners up in the south Zone Cricket Tournament held        
    at AWU Vijayapur 
7. Our University Organized 1st All India Women’s Inter University Athletes Meet 2012-13.   
    Inter collegiate tournament (All Affiliated colleges) in 20 games and sports activities.

  4. Department has preparing Sports Policy for Akkamahadevi Women’s University.
  5. Conducting all the National festivals and Kannada Rajyosthava.
  6. Conducting regularly morning and evening sports, physical Activities and yoga classes for hostel residential students to develop their health and maintain fitness.
